UK Board
Martin Zuch, Board Chairman
Martin’s career background was in finance until, in 2005, he made the decision to invest in Africa and contribute towards the huge task of poverty alleviation, through the creation of education, employment and sustainable businesses. Having witnessed the depth of poverty and lack of basic needs, such as schools, he set up Give Hope to help the community by providing education and other economic and social support.
To help him serve the community better, Martin completed a Master of Science in Community Wellbeing in Disaster and Development at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK.
He lives in Northumberland with his wife and 3 children and travels to Zambia regularly.
Rupert Edwards, Give Hope International Trustee
Rupert is married to Amanda and the father of a toddler, Benjamin. Together, they love living in East London and worshipping at St Paul’s, Shadwell, where Rupert is a volunteer member of the ordained staff team.
Rupert works as a legal and commercial consultant across fields ranging from media and technology to logistics and natural resources.
He is especially interested in working with start up enterprises. He has travelled extensively in Africa, including Zambia and Ethiopia, where he is excited about Give Hope giving – and helping others “make” – hope for their families and communities.
Tilahun Tesfaye, Give Hope Ethiopia Director
Tilahun Tesfaye was born on 10th November 1975 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. His background includes teaching, communications, project development, fundraising.
His previous job was marketing for World Vision. He has a degree in English Language and Literature, a Masters in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and an MSc in Community Wellbeing in Disaster and Development.
His father died when he was young and his mother was living on less than a dollar a day. He was sponsored from an early age.
Tilahun is married to Yordanos Dessalegn and has two children.
Charlie Mackesy, Give Hope Trustee
Charlie Mackesy is a renowned artist and lives in london with his dog (who keeps the house in order.)
He has lived and painted in Southern Africa and is passionate about helping the poor and giving children an education who have no hope.
His faith seems to be intertwined with all he does.

Christyan Malek, Give Hope Trustee
Christyan F Malek was born in London. He began his career in Deutsche Bank in 2002 as an Oil Analyst covering Integrated Oil Companies as part of a top rated European Oils team. In 2011 he joined Nomura as an Executive Director where he is head of the Oil Field Services division in Europe. Christyan is actively involved with a number of Christian based charities in Egypt, where he is originally from, and Give Hope International. Christyan lives in London with his wife and baby daughter who was born in the summer of 2011.
Vicky Lloyd, Give Hope Trustee
Vicky Lloyd has been involved with Give Hope for the last 4 years and has made several trips to Zambia. She is also involved with work in India.

Matthew F. Raymond, Board Member
Matthew Raymond was born in 1951 in Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), the fourth son of missionary teachers. His childhood home was in the Congo DR. He completed his primary education in Zambia, and secondary and tertiary in New Zealand. Matthew has held a number of senior management positions in schools in Africa. The Raymonds have a deep concern for the plight of children in poorer communities in Zambia who have little access to good education. The Raymonds are convinced Christians, and Matthew has been an elder at Greyfriars Presbyterian Church since 1997.
Ethiopia Board
Zeray Gezaghen, Board Chairman
Zeray is a Civil Engineer and has his B.Sc. degree in civil engineering from Addis Ababa University, in July 1982 and also his M.S.C in Construction Management from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK in June 1994. During the last Twenty Eight years of his experience, he has worked in different companies in various positions as General Manager.
Zeray is married to Rahel Tefera and have a girl and three boys. Zeraay used to support several children even prior to his involvement with Give Hope. He is currently sponsoring six children through Give Hope.Damtew Kifelew, Board Vice Chairperson
Damtew has been associated with Great Commission Ethiopia Ministry for several years. He is currently serving as a Director. He has MA (in progress) in leadership and BA in history from Addis Ababa University. Damtew is married to Tracie Herman who also works for Great Commission Ministry and they are blessed with three girls.
Yosef Lemango, Board Member
Yosef has extensive background in areas of business. He has also rich experience serving in Bete Yesus church board where is also currently a member. Yosef is married to Mersha Worku and have four children.
Mogues Worku, Board Member
Mogues was born on August 3rd 1959 in Goba-Bale, Ethiopia. He has Post Graduate Diploma in Development Management, BA in Development Management, BSc in Natural Science, as well as Advanced Diploma in Watershed Management. He is currently Director of Lem Ethiopia, a Non-Governmental Organisation engaged in environmental rehabilitation works. Mogues is married to Genet, who is a project Manager with Compassion International in Ethiopia, and is a father of two boys.
Zelalem Belay, Board Member
Zelalem lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with his wife Lidya Tesfaye and their two girls. His educational background is Accounting but much of his professional experience is devoted to film production, advertising and marketing. He is founder and General Manager of Sharp Videography.
Dawit Mekonnen, Board Member
Dawit Mekonnen was born on May 26 ,1978 in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia. His father died when he was young and his mother was living on less than a dollar a day. He was sponsored from an early age. He has his B.Sc. Degree in Construction Technology and Management as well as Advanced Diploma in Building Engineering. He is currently employed at 3M Engineering and Construction PLC. Dawit is married to Mekdes and have a boy.
