Who We Are
Background
Give Hope was first established in Kamafwesa, Zambia, in 2005 by Martin Zuch, Give Hope International Director and Trustee. The charity was later registered in the UK in 2007.
Give Hope is a charity founded to give children in some of the poorest areas in Africa a chance in life through education. We are currently running projects in Zambia and Ethiopia. The Zambian school started in 2005 with 60 children and has now grown to over 400. In Ethiopia, we are helping children off the streets in Addis Ababa and Oromia regions to come into school; the number has grown from 16 in September 2010 to 89 in November 2011.
We are committed to providing effective leadership and making sure that Give Hope remains accountable and transparent to both its donors/sponsors and the children we serve. We are committed to make sure that every penny is invested towards promoting the wellbeing of children, so that they can grow and reach their potential.

Our vision is to see every child grow and reach their potential.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to work on community capacity building by providing support to children, releasing them from economic, social, physical and spiritual poverty thus facilitating a favourable environment in which they can grow and become responsible and fulfilled adults. We aim to achieve this by establishing sponsor-child relationships and sustainable businesses.
Objective
Our principal objectives are to provide support to deprived communities in their struggle for better wellbeing, promote community empowerment and increase self-sufficiency.
Give Hope’s focus has been on children and women with the following major objectives:
- Increase school enrolment through construction of schools in the community; providing the schools with teachers, furniture and teaching aids; providing orphans with school uniforms and stationery.
- Providing nutritional support to orphan and vulnerable children under the age of five.
- Building the capacity of the community through enhanced methods of agricultural production.
- Providing a community centre where people can meet for recreational purposes and to discuss any issues of common concern such as sex education and family planning.
Purpose
Give Hope is a Christian organisation working with children in poverty.
Motivated by our faith in Jesus Christ, Give Hope serves alongside the poor as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people.
Give Hope serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
